Laurelwood Homeschool Classes is not a public school, and we do not operate like one.
Our classes are designed to be active, engaging, collaborative, and hands-on. We believe children learn best when they are involved in the learning process—not simply sitting at a desk listening to a teacher talk or completing worksheets independently.
At Laurelwood, students learn alongside their teachers. Teachers are actively involved in the classroom, encouraging questions, facilitating discussions, guiding projects, and working with students as they explore new concepts.
Our classes often include:
Even when worksheets or written activities are used, students are not simply handed a worksheet and left to work independently. Teachers work through the material with the class, ask questions, encourage discussion, and actively engage students in understanding what they are learning.
Our goal is not to recreate a traditional school environment. Instead, we strive to create a community where students feel comfortable participating, asking questions, making connections, and learning through experience.
Students are encouraged to collaborate with their teachers and peers, share ideas, solve problems, and take an active role in their learning.
Because of this, our classrooms may be louder, more interactive, and more movement-oriented than a traditional classroom. Students are expected to participate, engage, and be part of the learning experience.
If you are looking for a traditional public-school-style classroom where students primarily sit quietly, listen to a teacher lecture, and complete independent worksheets, Laurelwood Homeschool Classes may not be the right fit for your family.
If you are looking for a learning environment where your child can move, create, experiment, collaborate, ask questions, and actively participate in the learning process, we would love to have you join us!
Not sure if Laurelwood Homeschool Classes is the right fit for your family? Try it out before you commit! We offer a trial day of just $5 per class hour for the first day of class, plus any applicable supply fees. This is a great opportunity for your student to experience the classroom, meet the teachers, participate in the activities, and get a feel for our hands-on learning environment. It’s a simple way to see if Laurelwood is the right fit for your family before enrolling for the full class.
